Damn this game. I decided I was going to be a female halfling ranger with a pet lion. One thing that this game does, and I really like it, is you decide the specifics of your backstory as you play. You start a conversation with an npc about who you were and why you left that life behind. I chose to say I was a cook because that seemed like a neat choice.

Then these options came up and now I'm going to be playing her as a lecherous lesbian halfling. What do you call that? Emergent Roleplaying opportunity?

The gameplay is fun, too.

Want to play. But need a new computer to meet sys reqs. Bah.

Apparently someone unlocked Ryu and showed him off on a stream and discovered you can perform Street Fighter style inputs with Ryu.

And using those inputs have stronger versions of Ryu's moves.

ID: ddf44  No.1138

Am I the only one who thinks this is actually not that great an idea? Given how, y'know, extremely different Street Fighter and Smash Bros. are from each other?

friend mostly going: Stamina match, 300 health points

This will probably irritate a lot of people that counter spam. Haven't downloaded Ryu yet but I think im going to

to be able to counter other counters.
I mean I rely on counters a lil bit when I play Lil Mac online but hell.

So it's bad… but is it really that bad?

Bugs, glitches, exploits and frame rate issues. A very low meta critic score.
However I hear the EU version is somewhat patched.
I've been watching a competent No-Commentary LP of the game.

I guess Ubisoft can pay for better reviews of their games.
I honestly think Sonic Boom is mediocre at best.

Seeing Assassin's Creed Unity getting an MC average of 72 and Sonic Boom get 33, when both games seem to have the same issues, makes me think game sites shit on an average game more since they are not getting paid by them.

its how you kill a franchise

ID: 7232d  No.1106

That hashtag. '#it's going to be way better than the first one'

I suppose they can afford to say that since rise of lyric was made by BRB, but oooo damn talk about a corporate cold shower.

ID: ef10b  No.1108

its fine though…they have PSO2…
thats all they have left.

and also the all the other franchises they bought up

ID: 1eb40  No.1109

You might want to go look at their Steam catalog.

ID: ef10b  No.1111

yes it consist of Total war series, the DOW series, the Company of Heroes series, Sega Classics (which if you select games only theres only 6 pages of games total(war) and at least 2-3 pages of those will be the classic games) and 13 sonic games(including the 5 classic ones)
They do have good games but some of them were gained when THQ went under and they bought up series THQ had and the groups that made the games.

but yea that alien's game they got is hella good

I decided to give this game a try in a "What the hell? It's free" sort of way.

A little background. I don't like DotA games. I play one for five minutes, lose, then quit. I can't get my head around a lot of the micro or the macro stuff. I don't know what builds are better. I don't know which tallents to take first. I don't know the order to buy items in and I hate it when everyone makes me feel like a retard for not obsessively reading the wiki's for how I'm "supposed" to play before I actually play the fucking game. I think playing the exact same map over and over again is visually boring at the very least.

This game fixes every single problem I have with DotA and LoL. No joke. You start with all your abilities, you level as a team so falling behind in leveling is less of an issue. Upgrading your abilities is simple and very clear. Every so many levels, you gain a choice between one or two upgrades that upgrade one particular aspects of your skill. Like giving an ability a second charge, vampiric basic attacks, or things like that. And nothing really feels like a "wrong" choice, just what you've been playing as, it's very organic.

And to top it all off, there's like six different maps each with a distinct look and an individual side-goal. One has you collecting gold for a pirate to assist you with artillery. Another has you collecting seeds to make a plant battle armor.

I've not played that much of it, but so far I think it's pretty damned good.

I think we will see more support like Tassadar where they're not necessarily healers.

ID: 97801  No.1097

huh…was that the crusader in that second video?

ID: 97801  No.1100

Watching all the videos and the screenshots of the new map and hero…yea the Crusader pops up in a lot of em so I may assume that either the Crusader another hero or they be the "Boss" mob you can sick on other players

ID: deaa6  No.1102

The video shows Butcher and Johanna defeating the demon boss to summon the angel to push a lane.

But yeah, Johanna is a crusader. She's currently available. Butcher is supposed to come out with the new map.

about same, I also retired since I hit the max level…oddly this game is the only game I EVER hit max level

ID: 791ab  No.1009

The only thing that doesn't fit in with that is retiring the Luxury Cruiser and the Corvette.

Keeping those around would actually keep people invested in the event longer, since people that haven't got them yet would want to grab them.

I mean saying they were going to start retiring them after this event, I could see that driving participation, but…

ID: 118c9  No.1010

That's a good point. Maybe they're doing it wrong?

ID: 791ab  No.1011

Maybe they just figure hardly anyone really wants them, or something.

I don't see a lot of them whenever I'm at ESD.

ID: 791ab  No.1077

Anyone here play this? I only have the 3DS version, but talk of the Wii U version is fine too. We may even be able to trade FC's.

Text from EventHubs:

>The Game Theorists return with another excellent video this time discussing the underlying story of the Super Smash Bros. franchise.

>In this episode, we learn of a fairly compelling theory that Master Hand, the game's final boss, and series creator Masahiro Sakurai are one in the same. At a glance, that may not seem plausible, but your tune will certainly change after you hear what Game Theory has to say on the matter.

>The very first title in the Super Smash Bros. franchise features an opening cinematic in which Master Hand takes plush toys of Nintendo characters from its toy box, and sets them up on a small stage to do battle, which is believed to represent Sakurai's childhood. The video goes on to explain that Master Hand/Master Core in the latest Smash game represent the creator's struggle to hold on to his childhood passion and continue making installments in the series due to how grueling the process is – something he's mentioned in a number of interviews.

>Game Theorists

People still pay attention to them? They're like the video equivalent of clickbait articles.

ID: 31793  No.1034

Nintendo's site has a write-in ballot to have any video game character considered for inclusion in Smash Bros. via DLC. Voting ends October 3, and is very simple: just your gender (gotta nail down that demographic, I guess), the name of the character you want to suggest, the name of the game they appeared in, and a brief (500 characters) explanation of why you think they'd be a good fit for Smash. No registration or e-mail address is required.

(psst, I'm pretty sure that's dd/mm/yyyy format, so it ended March 10)

The launch date at the bottom of the page uses mm/dd/yyyy.

From former Rare peeps who made Donkey Kong Country and Banjo Kazooie: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/playtonic/yooka-laylee-a-3d-platformer-rare-vival

Looks like it's going to hit its initial funding goal within an hour of its Kickstarter going up.

I think failed kickstarter projects are a good lesson in understanding the risks that investors take with products. When people wonder why a business won't "just fund it" here's your answer. It doesn't always pan out or live up to the investment and gets scrapped.

So far, the first crowdfunded game that I was a part of which actually turned out according to spec and hype was Pillars of Eternity (and oh boy is it a good one). Everything else has been a flop in one way or another. This doesn't surprise me.

ID: 2ac60  No.1021

I would also include Wasteland 2 and Divinity: Original Sin living up to expectations. Not only that, they're getting GOTY-type upgrades that are being included with the base game for free.

ID: 256d3  No.1022

Grim Dawn's been quite a solid release too; it's not 100% released yet (Crate has been releasing acts as they're finished, then patching them up before moving on) but it's certainly lived up to hype.

Disappointment, though, requires I mention FaceRig. It works, but about a quarter as well as expected (even with tempered expectations) and practically requires a studio to get the right lighting. And it can't track your eyes if you have glasses.

Considering what came out of it, it could've been a hell of a lot worse.

I'm thinking of starting an RPG over the summer, using the OHRRPGCE engine.

I would like some advice on 16-color spriting and music, since right now, writing and coding are my strongest points right now.

I have a few links for you regarding pixel art/sprites:

http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixels/links.asp — Tons of links, divided by subject, for pixel art resources (tutorials, programs, and so on). Some links may be dead/outdated.

http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/ — PJ’s forums have loads of threads with helpful advice from some truly amazing pixel artists; I recommend the stickied threads in the “Resources and Support” section as a good place to start.

http://wayofthepixel.net/ — The other major pixel art-centric forum on the Internets also has loads of helpful threads; I recommend anything in the Pixel Art Feature Chest, the “Tools, Resources, and Linkage” thread in the “Rules & Resources” section, and the “Ramblethread!” thread in the “General Creativity” section. I’d also suggest checking out the two “Cluster Study” threads (http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=15566.0 and http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=16079.0) once you have a grasp of the basics.

http://www.spriters-resource.com/ and http://spritedatabase.net/ — If you want to study the sprites and backgrounds of gaming’s best classic RPGs, these two sites’ll let you do just that. They have tons of sprite sheets from every era of gaming; regardless of the style you want to go with for your game, you’ll probably find some inspiration for it here.
