Jaki Liebezeit - 26 May 1938 – 22 January 2017
German musician widely known as the drummer and founder of Can, one of the most influential and highly recognized band in the late 60's and 70's the krautrock scene, an experimental/psychedelic music movement in Germany mostly from around that time (basically, it comprised of musical groups that added characteristics of various styles of music from jazz, folk, ambient, electronic, etc and adding sound manipulation, repetitive beats, and neglect of emphasis on music structure which often resulting in some of the most trippy, oddball music that can go as long as 20 minutes and despite having the term "rock", not all of it is even rock music. Can's music had characteristics of jazz, electronic, a bit of drone, and ambient and they too had a few songs that were 20 minutes long, one of them being a drone track). Liebezeit's drumming style was possibly one of the most wild and intricate ones ever in the scene thanks to his experience in playing free-jazz as well as his studies in North Africa, Iranian, and Turkish music. At times, he was even labeled a "machine" and became quite sought after, especially after Can broke up in 1979. Can's "Bring me Coffee or Tea" is a great example of how much of a machine he was.
Liebezeit passed away in his sleep at age 78 from pneumonia.

just 2 months from the big 100. Just living on the same year as your 100 birthday is impressive enough though.
