Wow, heckuva week.

Capt. Edgar Dean "Ed" Mitchell, September 17, 1930 – February 4, 2016
Apollo 14 member, pilot, engineer, and the sixth man of twelve to walk on the moon; of natural causes.
Six moonwalkers still survive (Aldrin, Bean, Cernan, Duke, Schmitt, and Scott).

Pokemon Designer Eric Medalle, age 42, died from tree landing on his car during a wind-storm. Can't get a bead on age and biography, only that he survived by his wife and 2 daughters and recently a kickstarter was made to fund their college education (despite being 2 and 6 years old).

Prince Rogers Nelson - June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016
Musician, producer, actor of a sort, activist, and a lot more things, responsible for not only a legendary music career of his own but discovering and supporting numerous others including rescuing George Clinton from the throes of bankruptcy in the 1980s; had been suffering 'flu-like symptoms' for weeks according to his publicist; he was 57 years old.
ID: 0090c No.956
This… I mean some interesting things could happen now. From what Kevin Smith said, Prince was ridiculously eccentric and had a ton of never-released material locked away. Now that he's dead… shit, he could release more posthumous albums than Tupac.
ID: 55dbc No.957
There's at least four complete albums he declined to release–Dream Factory
, Crystal Ball
, ''Camille', and an untilted "black album". God only knows, man.
And not just his own material; he produced for a lot
of people. There's probably days and days of demo tapes, failed takes, aborted sessions…
ID: e73b4 No.960
The outpouring is reminding me a bit of when Robin Williams died. Lot of Prince's peers coming out and crediting him with starting their careers, saving their careers, saving their lives(Duff from Guns and Roses said his music saved him), some DJ he had at one of his parties said it got him to quit heroin, it's crazy.
I never really realized just how good of a guitarist he was. Greatly underrated. Sad day.
ID: 55dbc No.962
Have this: Tom Petty, Dhanni Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, and Prince - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
They give Prince the back-end solo. It's a thing of beauty.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SFNW5F8K9Y
ID: e73b4 No.963
Yeah that solo he does in the last 3rd of the song is breathtaking. Just steals the whole performance.
ID: 55dbc No.968
Well. And now Patton Oswalt's wife Michelle McNamara passed in her sleep last night, causes undisclosed; she was 46.
ID: ba28b No.969
The death of Prince is a real tragedy. He had a good 10-15 years of new music and touring still left in him, I'm sure. At 57, he still looked very good for his age, but I wonder if decades of rigorous touring and non-stop working were finally starting to take their toll on his health. You weren't 25 anymore, Price. You needed to slow it down a bit. Back to back dates of things to do, all night parties, concerts that started in the AM. I doubt you wanted to go out this soon. And now its too late.
He fought WB for years for his masters, and now that he finally has them back to play with and perhaps re-release his entire catalog, he's gone. And then of course, the vault. Who now dictates what happens? I wonder if he had a will.

>I wonder if decades of rigorous touring and non-stop working were finally starting to take their toll on his health
Don't forget all the substance/drug abuse. That shit can really
wreck you, and you can't say Prince wasn't using any drugs at all.

If TMZ's to be believed (and that's a thing in and of itself) the emergency landing in Moline on Saturday was so they could sock him with a 'safe shot', something you give a patient who's badly overdosed on opiates.
The autopsy is complete, and the coroner's office says there's no signs of suicide. It'll be at least a couple of weeks before the report hits the public.

Gneh, browser is acting the fool today. That's Alan Young.
ID: 2dafc No.1009
Real shame, I was hoping he'd keep on truckin right until age 100.
ID: 573c0 No.1020
Don't you mean 69 within that time frame?
ID: 55dbc No.1021
No, I mean 42 and I managed to type '1974' as '1947' three times. >.<
ID: e73b4 No.1035
Love that commercial he was in. Interesting enough, the guy could have died on the ice early in his career when he went head first into the boards. Doctors had to do surgery to remove the pressure on his brain. They never thought he'd play hockey again. Just goes on to have the longest career. Crazy.
ID: 0090c No.1039
Was either murder or a drunk driver. So basically murder either way.

It was his own car, at his own home. The suspicion is he got out to do something and the car rolled on him. But even that's…very weird.
ID: 55dbc No.1041
And now the LAPD has confirmed that his car was a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, one of two years recalled recently by Fiat Chrysler for having a faulty/poorly designed gear shifter that resulted in frequent rollaways. Whee!

The faulty shifter in question, which is spring-loaded

I was so saddened to hear of his passing. :C And I had just seen Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in theaters for a special showing. May he rest in peace…

In that case, nothing of value was lost with her passing.

Never speak ill of the dead. It's bad manners.
ID: 2e87e No.1078
I wouldn't say that–her crusade was a great motivator for her opponents. Every movement needs someone the can fight against, because you can't kill thoughts and ideas. But that's something for the old dead /mur/.>>1077
I will not celebrate someone's death, but I can certainly chose to not celebrate their life.

As my grandma say:
"If they were shit when they were alive, make sure you continue to see them as shit while they are dead."

This, Phyllis was a humongous
shit in her life, to the end. I won't celebrate her death but I don't see why I should show respect either.
ID: 0a1d8 No.1082
Guess she should have seen that coming.

I dedicate this song to goddamn 2016 for taking C. Martin Croker from us yesterday at just 54 years old…
ID: 573c0 No.1090
so the guy who sung You Spin Me Round (like a record) is dead?
Yowch. I mean his later career wasn't doing so well, but yowch.

>>1095>What a week, man.
More like what a year.

Saving that for when it's finally over.
I fear for what December's got lined up.

Fun fact: while Zsa-Zsa Gabor has indeed been quite an astounding woman in her youth, for some reason "gabor" became a synonym for a really ugly person in certain European countries, like Croatia and Serbia.
ID: 9227e No.1110
Slight correction, it was Eva Gabor, Zsa Zsa's younger sister, who was famous for Green Acres.

Mea culpa. Sometimes I do these things very quickly. Also I'm kind of an idiot.

I was so sad when I heard the news. My heart nearly stopped when I read the post about her earlier. T_T May she rest in peace…

Now her mother suffered a stroke. Jesus.

Fuck what a double whammy. Her heart couldn't take it.

Dr. Donald Henderson, the man who eradicated smallpox, died this year as well, back on August 19 at the age of 87, and yet for some reason we never heard about this. Also dead as of the past few days:
- Vera Rubin, the woman who discovered the first evidence of dark matter and somehow never got a fucking Nobel, died December 25 at 88
- Broadway actor George S. Irving, also best known from our childhoods as the voice of Heat Miser, died of heart failure on December 26 at 94
- Robert L. Hulseman, creator of the red solo cup, died of health complications following a series of strokes on December 21 at 84
2016's just being petty as fuck at this point and is determined to kill as many people as possible with it.

And that's it for 2016. When necessary, I'll start another one for 2017 and hope I don't have to visit it nearly so often.
I need more hobbies.
